Road Closure Notification

Dorset County Council Highways have informed us they have received an application from Amey Highways on behalf of Network Rail to close the A352 at Wool level crossing. The closure has been requested to allow contractors to upgrade and renew the level crossing. The works are programmed to start at 00:05hrs on Sunday 3rd March and be completed by 06:00hrs on Monday 18th March 2013, for a period of 15 days, 5 hours and 55 minutes. The road closure is necessary for safety reasons, as the works will take place within the whole width of the level crossing.

The road closure will be publicised in a number of ways: information will be placed on boards and Variable Message Signing (VMS) on the road in this area to inform the travelling public of the works: there will be a letter drop to local residents and businesses directly affected by the works; and they will sign a vehicular diversion route using the local road network.  A plan of the diversion route is attached:

Bere Regis Village Stone Signs

On Saturday 29th September 2012 the new Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Stone Signs for Bere Regis were unveiled. The carved Bere Regis welcome stone at the Dorchester end of the village was unveiled by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Giles Sturdy. Ian Ventham, Chairman of the Bere Regis Parish Council, wrote a letter informing the Queen that the stones had been unveiled.

With an excellent turnout from throughout the village the stones are just one of the many features to mark the Diamond Jubilee.

Superfast Broadband

Superfast Broadband is coming and it is hoped that it will be available to everyone in Dorset by 2015. The funding is now in place for the infrastructure and the next step is to start negotiations with commercial providers. In order to attract an enthusiastic supplier we need to show how much people want and need this service. You can help by filling in a short survey on the Dorsetforyou website and getting your friends and family to do the same. The survey can be accessed via www.dorsetforyou.com/superfast-dorset/register-interest . It takes seconds to complete and is totally private. Please do take the time to complete it.
